The pod

I've decided today that I am going to tout my love for what I have affectionately named "the pod", my ipod. I cannot imagine how I lived without this little 3.5"X 1.5" piece of metal and...well...pure joy & heaven.

When I first got my little piece of heaven, I began downloading songs from the 80s like Kajagoogoo's Too Shy and Billy Idol's White Wedding. You know, songs from my high school days. I was taken back to the mid 80s, with my jelly shoes & rubber bracelets ala Madonna.
Then I got hooked on my early college days and downloaded songs like Nice & Wild's Diamond Girl and Alisha's All Night Passion. Amazing how in a matter of moments I was wearing that too short mini skirt with 3 inch heels, sporting big hair & dancing my ass off at the club (aka JJ's). Aaah, the memories.
Then I quickly transformed myself to today and downloaded songs like Gwen Stefani's Sweet Escape and The Fray's How to Save a Life. I've even ventured into downloading something from my childhood, Meatloaf's Two out of Three Ain't Bad. Now that's a really time traveller for me, sitting in the back seat of my godmother's car with my mom in the front seat as we were on our way to the mall. I was in grade school, maybe 8 or 9 years old at the time.
I am fascinated with the fact that this little thing has the ability to take me anywhere in my life through music. It's like having the memories of my life played back at me all set to music. I can be a kid, a teen or an adult all in a matter of minutes. In my mind, my ipod is one of the greatest inventions ever. It holds the sweetest of memories in the most unsuspecting place. What's not to love about that?
