The will, the need, the urge

I have been going through some sort of scrap craziness. I have the will, the need, the urge to scrap. That's all I want to do, that's all I've been thinking about yet that's all I haven't been doing! It's hard with the kids home for the summer, I feel guilty to just go about my day, scrapping away & not spending time with them. Not to mention the cooler temps for the past few days that have made me a cleaning tornado! But that's a whole other story. Anyway, I did manage to crank something out yesterday. It was one of those just have fun & play LOs. I heard Stevie Wonder singing this one on the radio a few days ago & a light went on in my head. This may not be exactly my "thang", but man it was fun!

Singing in my head

Over the weekend, I saw this video on VH1. Ever since, I can't stop singing it in my head! "It's you, it's you..." So I had to go over to You tube so I could watch it again and of course, cement it further into my head. I don't know what it is. Maybe because it's so cheerful & uplifting? Anyway, I love the song and the lighthearted video and decided to post it to my blog so that you can now have it cemented in your head & be singing it all week, just like me.

"It's you, it's you...you make me sing..."

Pomp & Circumstance

It was an action packed day today. Ds graduated from kindergarten! What is it about seeing graduates, wearing caps & gowns and filing into an arena to the sounds of Pomp & Circumstance that gets me all teary eyed? We certainly are proud of our little guy. He had a ceremony at school at 10am, then afterwards we took him to lunch (his choice of restaurant) & even managed to get dd out of school so she could join us. Tonight, we threw a party with all the family to cap off his big day. Good times! Ds made sure to tell us in the car after the ceremony that he even looks like a 1st grader now! Heehee! Cute, or what? I am kicking myself for not taking pictures with my digi camera so that I can post some here. I took pictures will my film camera only. What a bad scrapper mom I am...I guess I'll have to share later then.

Bang, Bam, Crash!!

The day we have been dreading has finally arrived--the roofers are here as I type, putting on our new roof. There was an air of sickness here this morning as John & I watched the roofers drive up. We stood in the kitchen with very emotional looks on our faces, knowing that it was the end of an era. You see our house is old & loaded with charm. One of the greatest parts of the house is the slate roof. It lends so much character to the house and is often referred to rather lovingly by passerbys as "the beautiful house on the corner with the slate roof" and "how I've always admired your house with that slate roof".(no kidding) Well, as the house is 73 years old, the original slate roof has unfortunately come to the end of its life. We have some leaks in a few of the rooms and after getting several professional opinions, there was no way to salvage it...it has to come off. It's an expensive endeavor and one that we are not feeling wholeheartedly, but is necessary just the same. So as I sit here, listening to the banging & hearing the slates crash to the ground, with my heart broken, I decided to document this moment so that I could pay tribute to the "beautiful house on the corner with the slate roof".

Childhood summer day

Janie's blog challenge for today at Susan's Scrapbook Shack is to blog about a typical summer day in your childhood. I'll do my best, but I am going to have to stretch back quite a bit. I'm not as young as I used to be!

A typical summer day for me would be spent playing outside with the neighborhood kids, mainly my friend Debbie. We would do so many things in a day, like swimming, riding bikes, making "soup" from bowls of water, adding leaves & flowers, playing hide n' seek, jumping rope, playing school or pretending we were Charlie's Angels! (heehee, talk about imagination!) Many times, I'd eat dinner at her house or she at ours. I for some reason remember if we ate dinner at her house, we would eat in the living room on tv trays and watch Batman & Robin while we ate. Almost every night after dinner, I would go with my mom & dad to my brother's baseball games. I swear, sometimes I think I was born in a ballpark! Lots of game watching & often playground playing going on here. Thankfully some of the ball players had younger sisters to occupy me. I remember going out for ice cream after the ball games. Afterwards, we'd go home, I'd take a bath (with Rub a Dub dolly of course) & put my Carter's baby doll pajamas on. (Remember the jingle, "if they could just stay little til their Carter's wear out"?) I would usually watch tv before falling asleep. (I want to say around 10pm) Then I'd awake early the next morning & do it all again!

Oh such great, innocent times!

Subscription woes

I'm aggravated today. I subscribe to both Creating Keepsakes & BHG Scrapbooks Etc and have not received their latest issues yet! I've seen them in the store, but not in my mailbox. Isn't the point of subscribing so that you don't have to go to the store to get the magazines? Not to mention the added benefit that you have your issue before the newstands have them? But no, not me. I need my mags now!! My mailman better watch out today, because I'm going to tackle him at the curbside if he doesn't bring them today.

Oh well, fired up at 8:25 am! Happy Hump Day everyone!

One little word & the kitchen sink

I have always wanted to do one of those "everything but the kitchen sink" layouts. You know, the ones where there are so many embellies, so much eye candy, it makes your eyes water. The reason? Because sometimes you just need to take out all your supplies and play. Nothing more than that. just play. like a kid. no rules.

So here is said LO:

There is something to be said for being unihibited, especially being that I am one of those people bound by the "everything has to match" rule. Ahh release!

Oh yeah, this is for the challenge on the One Little Word blog. The word? Stop.

Go

I'm a little behind on the challenges, but have you see this cool blog?

The first word was GO. Here's my interpretation of it:

I think I'll try to play along as much as I can.
