I can officially say that we are finally getting some pretty blooms in our yard.
I know, I know, blooms are old news to you Southern belles,
but is it ok if this Northerner shares?
Sunday was a beautiful day. The sun was shining,
the temperature was in the low 80s,
the temperature was in the low 80s,
and there was the slightest breeze.
As I walked around my yard to inspect the progress of my
soon-to-be-blooming garden,
the slight breeze sent a swirl of the sweetest scent around me.
I knew immediately then that my Lilies of the Valley were ready to greet me!
Every year, when my Lilies of the Valley bloom,
I just stand in my yard and take in the scent.
I love the sweet, delicate scent so much.
This year, I thought, why not cut a few flowers to bring indoors?
After all, it seems as though I catch the lovely scent one day
and before I know it, these sweet little flowers are gone
away for another year.
You know, it's silly sometimes when I think about how
something so simple can give me such joy.
Why in the world have I never thought to bring a few of these
blooms indoors before?
Hoping your day is a beautiful one!
Beautiful! My Lilly of the Valleys are done for this year, and I miss them already! They are one of my Favorites, and they are from my Moms' garden so a double bonus! I had these in my wedding Bouquet, many years ago! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'm a Northerner too Gina. Temps dipped to 30 degrees last night. I carried in all my pots. Nothing planted in the ground yet!
ReplyDeleteOh Gina,
ReplyDeleteHow divine!
I used to grow Les Muguets years ago, and I do not here.
I need to do that again.
Your pictures are divine, enjoy that special gift from above!
I love these little gems...such fond memories for me of my childhood. Yes, you can celebrate the arrival of the gardening season for us in the north! I have been inspecting my garden daily as plants are pushing up really fast. I am up in Tadoussac on the St. Lawrence right now and even here the flowers are all pushing up!! Which is much further north and really early for plants!
ReplyDeleteThey are delicate and lovely! I am glad you got to enjoy them a little more by adding a few to the inside of your home =)
ReplyDeleteGina I love Lily of the Valley with there little delicate flower and sweet smell!
ReplyDeleteLily of the Valley has such a sweet scent. I had some years ago at my old house. Funny thing is I never cut any to bring in the house.
ReplyDeleteOh, Gina, I can almost smell them! They are one of my favorite! I know you enjoyed them inside the house!
ReplyDeleteI love Lily of the Valley and I have such trouble growing them here in Va...I've tried twice already and I need to try again! The scent is to die for!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Lorraine
How beautiful Gina. I have them too but they are still leaves this far north. Now I will be lucky to see any flowers. My dh keeps cutting them down.
ReplyDeleteSeems like the simple things bring me the most pleasure too . Lilly of the valley is the sweetest plant ,makes me think of babies when I see it.Not sure why . I also love the smell of Honeysuckle in the early summer ,I think I need to plant some of that along the fence row . Enjoy your blooms !
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet, Gina! I am changing the saying to "Stop and smell the Lilies of the Valley". What a lovely scent they have. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely! Thanks for sharing Joann
ReplyDeleteNot silly at all! You sure caught their beauty in this wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteMy mother had them but I was a teenager and had no time to smell them.LOL They sure look so pretty in your picture!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding us to enjoy the simple things such as the scent of Lilly of the Valley.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love fresh flowers inside! I'm glad you chose to cut them. My daughter and s-i-l have the most gorgeous roses and she doesn't ever think to bring some inside. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's beginning to be summer here...and I'm not ready for the high temps.
Have a wonderful week!

Oh I miss Lillie's of the Valley. We had them when I lived in Minnesota, but not in Florida. I like to bring my Magnolias when they bloom, they scent the whole house!
ReplyDeleteCarol
Those delicate bells are so sweet! Love them!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Gina, I used to have lily of the valleys down the side of one of the houses I have lived in over the years. I loved when they bloomed.
ReplyDeleteI love those, too, Gina. I don't have any of them at this house..but I think I need to plant some- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI love spring and all the flowers and good weather it brings! yay for your new blooms! :)

These are some of my very favorite flowers.....I always pick big bouquets to put in the house....add a bit of clorox in the water, it brings out the perfume.....
ReplyDeleteGina, I love this old fashioned flower. I brought a start from my previous home, but they are still small. I did have a few blooms, but they are now spent. I have stated bringing more blooms into my home also. I love seeing them in the yard, but they add a lot of beauty indoors. Don't know why It took me so long to realize that.
ReplyDeleteLove all of your sweet photos.
Hugs,
Jann
