Last week, while shopping at Target, I noticed they had some really cute Halloween decor. I spotted a pumpkin pillow that I loved.
Here is the picture I took with my iphone. Yeah, I know it's a terrible shot.
Said pillow was only $9.99, but I already had a cart full of stuff I didn't really need, so I thought I'd refrain from buying this pillow.
A few days later, the pillow was still on my mind. I thought of going back to Target to buy it, however, I knew that if I went back, I would most likely fill up my cart with stuff I didn't really need, and thus begin the vicious cycle all over again.
Then I thought....hey, maybe I could make my own pillow!
I had cream colored fleece left over from when I made my Valentine's Day hearts. That's all I needed was some orange fleece & black embroidery floss. I bought a 1/4 yard of orange fleece & some embroidery floss & spent less than $2.00 to do so at Joanns. (It would have actually been less still had I not bought 3 rolls of embroidery floss. I'm such a bad judge of how much I need of something!)
I found this pumpkin pattern at Confessions of a Plate Addict.
Using this template and then free handing the eyes & mouth, I came up with this cutie.
I used a simple whip stitch & a blanket stitch to make this fellow. I'm pretty happy with how he turned out too. Cute, huh?
Are you getting ready for Halloween?

That came out so cute! I would never be able to recreate that! And is that an owl pillow I spy behind the pumpkin one in your Target picture? Target is a very dangerous place for me to go to! It's like I will go for one thing and leave with way more than I had planned.

Do I have this right..... you walk down the Target isles, get inspired, go home and end up making your own adorable pillows? When I'm there I just contemplate where the toilet paper isle was moved too.

How adorable!!!!! MY kids would love this!1
ReplyDeleteHello Gina, your pillow is lovely and what's even better is the fact that you made it yourself. I remember Joann's from when I visited Atlanta.....the first time I went there, I couldn't buy a thing as I was so overwhelmed with how large the shop was and how much there was to buy. By the second visit, I got over myself and had a ball! Best Wishes Daphne
